From the President
The MCSV Inc. (Mauritian-Chinese Cultural Society of Victoria Inc.) is a non-profit organization founded and registered on April 4th, 2007..
Prior to the official registration of the club, a group of friends whilst having a meal together in September 2006, shared the common vision of founding a social club where
Mauritian who have migrated to Victoria, Australia to meet
and promote the Mauritian-Chinese culture, to foster a spirit of friendship and networking.
The vision did not stop after the meal but instead was pursued further at the next gatherings in Jells Park on October 22nd, 2006 and November 19th, 2006.Our aim was to organise some activities where we can socially meet and at the same time promote the Mauritian-Chinese culture. To align with our vision, our first organised party coincided with the celebration of the Chinese New Year in February 2007.
Our 1st Chinese New Year Party was on February 10th, 2007 at Menzies Community Hall, Menzies Avenue, Dandenong to celebrate the Year of the Pig. There was a mini floor show consisting of
• Catwalk and Chinese dance performed by the children
• Chinese song
The party was a huge success with a good turnout of 428 attendees. Further to the positive feedback received and the support showed by those who attended the party; the founders defined and established the Club Constitution to officially register the MCSV Inc. on April 4th, 2007.
An open day family BBQ was organised for the MCSV Inc. launch at Jells Park on April 25th, 2007 (Anzac Day). 380 people attended the BBQ and presented an opportunity to register as a Club Member. Activities such as tug of war, spoon race, face paintings and soccer were organised and enjoyed by all.
The founders of the MCSV Inc. dedicate their time and effort to organise such successful activities and continue to support the club. They are:
Sheila & Andrew Ah-Sen

Audrey & Jacques Lam
Rachel & Patrick Lee
Sandrine & Dominic Liu
Marie-Anne & Jacky Loo
Stella & David Min Fa
Veronique & Lindsay Min Fa

In the first year there were 251 paid club members. Our hope is that MCSV Inc. grows and adherence to the MCSV Constitution be embraced by current and future elected Committee Members.
